Oceanside gazing— sight begins to blur and the imagination starts to play — new visual shapes & forms unfold, a common experience for many while sitting by the ocean.
Transposed is a collection of abstract images created with the backdrop of the refreshing California coastline, where we explore the boundaries between visual truth and memory as an act of creative fiction. Our resulting photographs are bold monochromatic expressions of vision beyond what the eye can see, but the mind creates. Transposed makes tangible the inner contemplative experience, a fluctuation between reality and fantasy.
We began with photographs of the coastline arranging them into interesting segments and uniquely inverting or re-assembling them into new artistic creations. With the blurring lines between truth and fiction in our digital age, obvious intentionality through digital collage is our node to a contemporary authenticity. This work was created as a personal respite, honouring the beauty of nature and the art of transformation— a reminder of the immense curative power that imagination and nature provide when we are present to the creative moment. —Digital Collage, Archival Prints 2017.
