Oceanside gazing— sight begins to blur and the imagination starts to play — new visual shapes & forms unfold, a common experience for many while sitting by the ocean.
Transposed is a collection of abstract images created with the backdrop of the refreshing California coastline, where we explore the boundaries between visual truth and memory as an act of creative fiction. Our resulting photographs are bold monochromatic expressions of vision beyond what the eye can see, but the mind creates. Transposed makes tangible the inner contemplative experience, a fluctuation between reality and fantasy.
We began shooting coastline photographs subject matter already in a constant state of transition, at the juncture of land and sea, and arranging them into interesting segments or uniquely inverting, re-assembling them into new visual experiences. Through a process of digital collage this work was created as a personal respite, honouring the beauty of nature and the art of intentional transformation— a reminder to us of the immense curative power that imagination and nature provide when we are present to the playful creative moment. —Digital Collage, Archival Prints 2017.
